Please join us at our next meeting as a guest!
Introduce yourself, get to meet some of us and share our passion for collage. As a guest you will pay a $5 admission fee (if you join CAA that day, the $5 is applied to the annual fee).
Bring me all art magazines, wallpaper books, art materials, etc, for our second-chance table. Clean out your studio, share with others and support our Philanthropy Fund. — Christel Thompson, Philanthropy Chairperson
The guest speaker at our January meeting was Kathryn Dole, who presented a slide program of the work of her late husband, William Dole (1917-1983).
Dole worked in the painted and pasted paper world of collage. Henry Seldis described his work at “magical, mysterious, even mystical, his paper and paint compositions evoking the artist's experiences and dreams while triggering our own inner echoes.”
In Dole’s collages, the printed word, even in a foreign language, has a sense of authority that no other graphic element has. The word, printed or handwritten, is brought into the picture as a formal element.
