January 2006
Guest presenter: Kathryn Dole
The guest speaker at our January meeting was Kathryn Dole, who presented a slide program of the work of her late husband, William Dole (1917-1983).

Dole worked in the painted and pasted paper world of collage. Henry Seldis described his work at “magical, mysterious, even mystical, his paper and paint compositions evoking the artist's experiences and dreams while triggering our own inner echoes.”
In Dole’s collages, the printed word, even in a foreign language, has a sense of authority that no other graphic element has. The word, printed or handwritten, is brought into the picture as a formal element.
